Nucleotide-dependent Motor Conformational Changes

Microtubules decorated with monomeric kinesin motor domain proteins in the presence of AMP-PNP, no nucleotide, or ADP. The figure shows a montage of reconstructions made from separate negative stain images. The differences in density of the motor:microtubule complex reflect the conformational changes associated with different nucleotide occupancy of the active site.
