Phylogenetic Tree of Kinesin Light Chain Proteins

The phylogenetic tree of kinesin light chains was built using an exact (branch and bound) search method of PAUP v 3.1.1, a maximum parsimony program. The sequence alignment used for the tree search contained only one of the alternatively spliced KLC variants for each organism in which multiple variants have been detected. The tree shown above is arbitrarily rooted using CeKlc1 as an outgroup kinesin light chain. The numbers adjacent to nodes are the bootstrap values for 100 branch and bound bootstrap trials and represent the percentage of trials in which the indicated groups were found. The KLC alignment was made by O.T. Hardy.
